My Little Hood Memories
My name is Susan S. Stannon and I was born on January 15, 1752 in New York. I have one sister and her name is Mary S. Stannon. During my childhood I
have been through so much. Not everything was easy because there was slavery and during the middle colonies there was also there was The Revolutionary War
occurring at the moment. When I was at the age of 6 I started to go to school and I was persistent to get everything I could done and I always attempted to do
my best. My sister and I were always unanimously because we had a special bond that made us work so well together. By the age of 11 I had finished school an
had been staying home to help my mom and dad who were farmers that worked really hard.
I had worked my best and hardest every single day. When I was 12 and I had my break I would like to go in to the forest and look at the beautiful animals
that were walking and flying around and I did not show a single ounce of apathy. The first time I went into the forest I was curious about what had been there. I
went in there and then I was seeing all the animals; there were so many birds, insects, mammals, and more. There were such things I could not describe. When it
was time for me to find my way back to the farm, I could not. I was lost and I forgot the way I had reached there. I had falter because I could not find my way back
home and I thought that I would know but I have been wrong. “Help!!!!!!!” I screamed when I had reached the middle of the forest and then I had heard another
scream. My sister had screamed back she said that she was going to come in and take me back. I made sure to tell her to make a trail so she wouldn't get lost also.
After about 30 minutes Mary found me and we found our way back home. She discontentedly told me to never do that again. “I should have never gone in to
the forest without your permission.” I told her “Its okay. Just make sure it doesn't happen again.” I was scared as a girl seeing a ghost for the first time.
The French and Indian war happened between 1689-1753 and this was occurring when I was born. It involved British America and New France. Parliament
wanted to achieve two objectives, which were to tax the colonies and to restore profit. Both sides of this war had been supported by military. The British had
claimed our states such as New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Delaware. There was a dispute about control of the confluence. The dispute resulted to, the
Battle of Jumonville Glen in May 1754. British had operations in 1755, 1756 and 1757, in areas of Pennsylvania and New York. All of those plans had failed.
When I was 15 years old I had planted various crops that had boosted the economy. I had done a lot of things that have benefited the community. I would
even help the people who did not have anything because I did not want to have to see them with no food, money, or home. I would help these people to become
better people. People in my society do not even have enough money to buy food and they have children. Everyday I would bring them some food and water that
would last them for at least two or three days. The next thing that I did when I was about the age of 18 was that I was the first in my community to present a
speech. This speech was the equality of everyone because at this time not everyone was free. People were kept as slaves to do other peoples labor. People who
had slaves did not know how it was like to be a slave. My speech was also about the freedom of what we wanted to say but this did not take affect on people.
Later when I was 19 I wanted to become an explorer. I was persistent, that until I have found land that I would not turn back and walk with shame. I decided that
I really did not want to pursue this dream. But instead of walking homeward, I decided to keep on walking until I had found something new but I have not. I
failed and later that year I had returned back home with my sister. I decided that I really didn't want to do this because it just didn't feel right. I really had to follow
my true dream, which was that I wanted to become a school teacher. I wanted to become a school teacher because I loved to watch the children try something
new. I loved children and instead of pursuing exploring I decided to pursue my job of teaching. I wanted to make my debut as the first youngest teacher. This was
one of my dreams that I wanted to accomplish.
